I’ve been diving into the world of home automation, and it’s been a fascinating journey! 
One of the things I’m most excited about is how I’ve managed to automate my lights using a combination of sensors and smart devices. Let me share some of my experiences and tips with you! The Setup I have a mudroom attached to my garage, and I wanted the light to turn on automatically when someone enters from the garage. However, I didn’t want it to activate when someone was leaving the house. To achieve this, I used a motion sensor in the garage and a door sensor on the garage/mudroom door. The automation I created checks if the motion sensor is triggered before the door opens, ensuring the light only turns on when someone is coming in. It’s been working perfectly, and it’s so convenient! 
A Little Challenge At first, I faced a problem where the light would sometimes turn on even when the door was being opened from the mudroom side. After some research and tweaking, I realized I needed to adjust the order of the sensors in the automation. Now, it’s foolproof! 
Tips for Others If you’re looking to create similar automations, here are a few tips: - Start Simple: Begin with basic automations and gradually add complexity. - Test Thoroughly: Use different scenarios to test your setup. - Experiment with Sensors: Motion sensors and door sensors are incredibly versatile. The Future of My Automation I’m now looking into integrating more smart devices, like smart plugs and maybe even a smart camera.
