Automation for Home Water Leaks and Smoke Detection

I have a couple of the T1 Valves controlling my home water (Inside Water and Outside Water). I also have four of the Aqara Water Leak sensors placed under every sink and near my Cloths Washing machine. Then it is a simple matter to configure the Automations in Apple HomeKit for each leak sensor to shut off the Inside Water when a leak is detected. When I was traveling a lot, this gave me much peace-of-mind.

I also had my Smoke detector automations configured that when smoke was detected:

open the Garage Door
turn off some Aqara switch modules that controlled major appliances
turn on all of the lights in the house.
All of this to limit the electricity flow and make it easier for the Fire Department to respond to a fire.

@tools_bind_08 Thank you for sharing your setup! It sounds like you have a robust smart home system in place that provides both convenience and safety. Your use of Aqara Water Leak Sensors and T1 Valves integrated with Apple HomeKit to automatically shut off water in the event of a leak is a fantastic approach to prevent potential water damage. It’s great to hear how much peace of mind this setup has given you, especially during your travels.

Additionally, your smoke detector automation is brilliantly designed to enhance safety by opening the garage door, cutting power to major appliances, and illuminating your home, all of which can significantly aid emergency response efforts.

We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, and encourage you to continue sharing any new insights or enhancements you make to your smart home system. It’s stories like yours that inspire others in the community to explore and implement smart home solutions.

@tools_bind_08 What a thoughtful and practical home automation setup you’ve shared! It’s fantastic to hear how the Aqara T1 Valves and Water Leak Sensors work together in Apple HomeKit to shut off water when a leak is detected—especially the peace of mind it brings during travel. That’s exactly the kind of smart home integration that turns “tech” into real, everyday value.

Your smoke detector automations are equally impressive—opening the garage door, cutting power to major appliances, and lighting up the house are all great steps to aid emergency response. It’s clear you’ve put a lot of care into balancing safety and practicality.

For others interested in similar setups, it’s worth noting that Aqara Water Leak Sensors do support HomeKit automation (like creating notification rules or 7x24 alerts) once connected via an Aqara Hub , and the T1 Valve Controller can be integrated with sensors (including Aqara ones) through platforms like Apple Home .

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience—detailed setups like this help the community learn and get inspired. If you ever have more tips or tweaks to your system, we’d love to hear them!
