In Apple Home I can add an automation on the home page for “Sensor detects something” and choose, say a door contact sensor.
But my leak sensors don’t show ip in tat menu’s list of devices. Instead, I have to go to the leak sensor’s device page and “Add automation”.
Why don’t the leak sensors show up on the list of devices on the home “Add automation” page?

I don’t believe that is an Aqara specific issue, rather an Apple Home architecture issue. HomeKit internally classifies accessories by “service type”. The “Sensor Detects Something” trigger is a filtered list — it’s not “all sensors,” it’s only the service types Apple chose to expose there.
This limitation impacts other device types besides leak sensors, such as smoke detectors and other brands. Not just Aqara.
