I’m trying to create a simple automation for my lights to go on if presence is detected but only at night. I’m using a FP1E presence sensor. But the only way I see to do it is by using acting time which I would have to update through the year. There must be a way to do this that I’m missing.
Hello, wait a bit. Automation version 2.0 will be released soon, it has all this. Automations 2.0: Powering Smart Home
Exactly ! Automation Version 2 is the ultimate step for all extended automations- hopefully the release will be soon! First tests have been absolutely great! ![]()
I’m sure I’ve already got this in Automation 1.0 by using 4 difference automations. I’m sure someone more intelligent than me might have put this in just 1, or Automation 2.0 might fix this.
Automations…
-
IF ‘Channel 1 turns on’ (I’m using a standard PIR connected to a T2 Relay but I’m sure you can say IF the FP1E detects motion). THEN turn lights ON
-
IF ‘Channel 1 turns off’ (maybe you’ll have something like IF the FP1E no longer detects motion). THEN turn lights OFF
-
IF After ‘Location’ At Sunset. THEN Enable “Name of Automation 1”.
You ca add days into the THEN is you want the On automation to start say 30 mins after sunset. -
IF After ‘Location’ At Sunrise. THEN Disable “Name of Automation 1”
In my experience there is no need to disable Automation 2.
Let me know how you get on.
Hello. Nice idea. Just check, please, is the automation cloud-based or local?
I connect all my Aqara devices to my SmartThings app and and I can create routines that will only run at “1 hour after Sunset”
For more complicated programming I connect my Aqara device to my GoogleHome and create Scripted Automations.
Hope that Helps
Local
Yea I saw this but then this becomes so a complicated automation for a simple task turn on 15 min. before sunset and turn off 15 min after sunrise. and I see this is possible with Smart Automations 2.0 which is currently in Beta. IN the meanwhile I can achieve this in Homekit - but just looking for hte same simplicity in Aqara app
Upgrade to Automations 2.0 for this automation (bottom of screen), then click on ‘acting time’ next to the Trigger
Choose ‘Night’ then it will only work during Sunset to Sunrise
