I’ve set up an automation to remind me to refill my cat feeder, which rotates through five bowls each morning. The system works by decrementing a counter at 5:15 AM and triggering a timer to notify me at 6 PM if the feeder hasn’t been refilled. However, this morning, the counter reached zero without the timer starting, and I’m puzzled as to why this happened. The logs indicate that the automation triggered correctly at 5:15 AM and decremented the feeder count to zero, but the timer didn’t initiate. I’ve included the YAML configuration below for reference.
