I have been playing around with automations 2.0 but i cant seem to create the automations that run locally, they are always cloud based. How can they be switch to run locally?
Automations that run locally before Automations 2.0 will still run locally. You will see them marked as “local” or “edge”. If your automation needs anything external to run it will run in “cloud”. I think camera feed needs the Aqara cloud so camera automations will run in “cloud” mode
Hi, what gateway are you using? If you don’t update to the latest version, automation will be cloud-based in 2.0.
What is the difference between ‘Edge’ and ‘Local’?
Edge is a local automation in which only the Zigbee home network ->gateway1<->router<->gateway2<- Zigbee. Or WiFi device->router<-gateway<- Zigbee
Local is Zigbee<->gateway<-> Zigbee.
I forgot to specify, this is when devices are placed at the edges of the provided diagrams.
Gateway? im using a g3 camera hub if that is what is refereed to as a gateway.
Hi, you have G3 firmware 4.2.7 or higher should be for local automation 2.0. Check this?

Hello, please show me screenshots of cloud automation.
this is using automations 2.0
Hello, the second automation is 100% cloud-based, weather conditions are used there. All automations with weather conditions take data from the Internet.
The first automation should be local, I will repeat it in my smart home and write back. It is not exclusive that AI is involved in automation there, so it can also be cloud-based.
thank you for your help with this, you stated the second automation is cloud based but why is the second automation marked as local on left hand side menu?
Sunrise/sunset do not count as weather because they can be calculated based on date/time and location - so at least in theory they can always be computed locally.
I have your local duplicate. What firmware do you have on your G5? I have version 4.3.8. It may depend on the firmware.
On older versions of the G5 firmware, automation 1.0 is local, on 2.0 it is cloud-based.
Wait for the new firmware to arrive, but for now use 1.0.
ok thank you again for the help, any ETA on the new firmware?
