I’ve been experimenting with automations that trigger music or sounds based on certain events, like when someone enters the house or when it’s time to start the morning routine. It’s been a great way to add a personal touch to my home environment!
One thing I’ve noticed is that integrating music services like Spotify or YouTube Music with automations can sometimes be tricky. For example, I set up an automation to play a door chime when the front door opens, but I ran into an issue where it would pause or stop any music that was already playing. After some research, I found a neat workaround: using conditional checks to see if music is currently playing before triggering the chime. If music is playing, the automation pauses it, plays the chime, and then resumes the music. It’s not perfect, but it’s a good compromise!
