I’ve been diving into home automation lately, and I wanted to share my recent success with automating my bathroom. It’s been a fun project, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned!
A few months ago, I decided to upgrade my bathroom with some smart devices. I wanted to make it more convenient and energy-efficient. I started with a motion sensor, a smart bulb, and a space heater. The goal was to create a seamless experience, especially during the colder months.
Here’s what I did:
- Motion-Activated Lighting: I set up the smart bulb to turn on at a low brightness when motion is detected. This way, it’s not blinding at night, but still provides enough light to navigate safely.
- Heater Control: I programmed the heater to turn on if the motion sensor detects a temperature below 64°F, especially when the house isn’t in away mode. It’s been a lifesaver during the winter!
- Smart Shutdown: I added a rule to turn off the lights and heater after five minutes of inactivity. It’s all about saving energy without sacrificing convenience.
One of my favorite features is the rule that prevents me from accidentally leaving the garage door open. If the main lights are turned off and the garage door is open, the lights stay on as a reminder. It’s such a simple yet effective solution!
I’d love to hear from others who have automated their bathrooms. What devices and rules have worked well for you? Any tips or tricks to make the experience even better? Let’s share and learn together! ![]()
