Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot an issue with my bathroom light automation. I’ve been using a Zooz ZSE40 motion sensor paired with a GE dimmer to automatically turn on the bathroom light when motion is detected. The setup has been working perfectly during the day, but my wife has noticed that the light doesn’t turn on automatically in the morning when she’s the first one to use the bathroom. This has been happening consistently over the past few days, and I’m a bit puzzled about what could be causing it.
I’ve checked the logs and noticed something interesting. When the automation works as expected during the day, the log simply shows the motion detected event and the light turning on. However, in the morning when it fails, there’s a more detailed log entry that I can’t quite make sense of. I’ve included a screenshot of the log for reference.
I’ve also tried manually triggering the automation by pressing the dimmer switch, and it works perfectly, which suggests that the hardware itself is functioning correctly. The issue seems to be isolated to the morning hours, which makes me wonder if there’s a timing-related bug or if there’s some interference from other devices that’s preventing the automation from triggering.
I’ve reviewed the automation settings multiple times and everything appears to be configured correctly. The motion sensor is set to trigger the light when motion is detected above a certain threshold, and the dimmer is set to turn the light on at full brightness. I’m not sure if there’s a specific setting I’m missing or if there’s a known issue with this particular setup.
If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot this, I’d be incredibly grateful. I’d love to get this automation working smoothly again, especially since it’s such a convenient feature in the morning when we’re rushing out the door.
Thanks in advance for your help!
