Hello everyone! I’m really enjoying diving into the world of smart home automation. It’s so cool how much you can customize your home to make daily tasks smoother. Today, I wanted to share a challenge I’ve been working on and see if anyone has some tips or insights.
So, the issue is with my bathroom lighting automation. I have a setup where the lights turn on when motion is detected, which is super handy. However, the problem arises when I try to manually turn the lights off. The moment I do that, the motion sensor triggers the automation again, and the lights come back on immediately. It’s a bit frustrating because I want the lights to stay off once I turn them off manually.
I’ve tried a few things to solve this. First, I adjusted the retrigger time on the motion sensor to 10 minutes, thinking that would give me enough time to leave without the lights coming back on. Unfortunately, that didn’t work—it still triggered right away. Then, I added a condition where the automation would only run if the lights were off for at least a minute. Still, no luck there either.
I’m really curious if others have faced this issue and how they resolved it. Maybe there’s a different approach or a setting I’m missing. I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully created a similar setup where manual overrides stick without the automation interfering.
On a positive note, I’ve learned so much about how these automations work and the different ways to tweak them. It’s been a great learning experience, even with the occasional setback. I’m optimistic that with some experimentation and maybe a bit of help from the community, I can get this working smoothly!
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions. Let’s keep the ideas flowing and make our smart homes even smarter! ![]()
