I recently came across an issue with my Visonic contact sensors, and I thought it would be helpful to share my experience and ask for advice from the community. I’ve been using these sensors for a while now, and overall, they’re great. However, I’ve noticed that their battery levels drop quite low and stay that way for months. This has led to frequent notifications from SmartThings, which I found overwhelming. To manage this, I turned off the notifications from SmartThings and started using Simple Device Viewer instead. It worked well, sending me a weekly text when the batteries were low and more frequently as they approached dead.
However, a few days ago, Simple Device Viewer stopped working, and now it’s reporting all my devices as offline. I suspect this might be due to changes in the SmartThings cloud. I’m curious to know how others are handling situations where devices have very low battery levels for extended periods. I could just ignore the issue until the battery dies, but if I were going away on vacation, I’d want to replace the batteries beforehand to avoid any issues while I’m away.
Has anyone found a reliable solution for managing battery levels in such scenarios? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have. Whether it’s a specific app, a workaround, or a different approach altogether, I’m all ears! Thanks in advance for your insights.
