Battery Life and Smart Home Integration

I’ve been using smart home devices for a few years now, and one thing that’s always been on my mind is battery life. I’ve got nine thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) running around my house, and while they’ve been reliable, changing batteries is something I can’t avoid. I’ve mostly used Duracell batteries—specifically the Plus, Ultra, and Optimum models. The Plus type has been a standout, lasting an impressive 530 days on average. That’s pretty impressive, but I’m curious to see how others are handling this. I’ve heard great things about Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, so I decided to give them a try. I’ll be updating this thread once I’ve tested them through a full cycle. But I’m also wondering if there are other brands or types that the community prefers. Do you have any recommendations or experiences to share? Another thing I’ve been exploring is integrating multiple smart home devices from different brands. It’s been a bit of a challenge, but it’s also been really rewarding to see everything work together seamlessly. I’d love to hear from others who’ve done the same—what tips or tricks have you found useful? Lastly, I’ve been looking into setting up some automation rules for guests or housekeepers. I’ve managed to create a boolean switch that turns on all the lights when they’re expected, but I’m still figuring out how to ensure everything works smoothly without conflicting automations. If anyone has advice or has tackled a similar setup, I’d love to hear about it! Let’s keep the conversation going—share your experiences, tips, and any challenges you’ve overcome with smart home integration and battery management!
