I’ve been using the HmIP-MOD-RC8 module for a while now and have been curious about battery life, especially since it can be powered by either two Mignon batteries or a single 9V block battery. I’ve heard mixed experiences from other users, so I thought I’d share my own observations and ask for some advice.
For the past six months, I’ve been using two Mignon batteries. On average, they’ve lasted about 6-8 months with moderate usage—maybe a few dozen operations a week. That said, I’ve noticed that if the module is used more frequently, say during the holiday season when I’m controlling lights more often, the batteries don’t last as long. It would be great to hear from others who might have tested both battery types to see which offers better longevity.
One thing I’ve also noticed is that the module seems to drain power faster in colder temperatures. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there are any tips to mitigate it. Maybe some sort of insulation or selecting a different battery type?
If anyone has experimented with different usage patterns or battery brands, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Battery life is such a crucial factor for wireless modules, and having a reliable estimate would help a lot in planning and maintenance.
Looking forward to your insights!
