Best Aqara Setup for a Sliding Garage Gate

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on the best Aqara devices or setup to control a sliding garage gate (the kind that opens sideways) at the entrance of my property. Not house.

Ideally, I’d like the gate to open automatically based on proximity—for example, when arriving home with my car—or at least have an easy way to trigger it from my phone or Apple Watch.

What combination of Aqara products or automations would you recommend for this kind of gate? Are there any reliable solutions for proximity detection, or integrations with other smart home systems (HomeKit, Alexa, etc.) that work well?

Hi @aleix - I think a relay T2 and one or maybe 2 door window sensors with a printed outdoor housing - one door window sensor for the fully open and one for the fully closed status!

I think you can use location-based automation. When it’s 100 meters from the house, the gate opens.
