Best Hub Upgrade from E1 (if any)?

I have an E1 hub (the USB stick one) and it’s fine. I started just wanting to collect sensor data from my temperature/humidity sensors and for that it works great! I’m curious whether I should (or need to) upgrade my hub to be able to expand my setup beyond just sensors into more of a smart home.

What are the hub options (in the US) and which is the best for “getting started with automations” – or will my E1 work great (for now)?

You may want to consider the M3 hub. It works with HomeKit and can expose Aqara Zigbee devices as Matter devices.

Does it act as Matter hub for non-Aqara devices too or just expose Aqara (Zigbee) as Matter? (I’m obviously new to Matter stuff, thanks!)

It does support non-Aqara Matter devices, but it does not support non-Aqara Zigbee devices.
