Best placement for presence sensors in open floor plan?

Hi all,

I’m setting up a couple of Aqara presence sensors in an open floor plan (kitchen + living room + dining area). For those of you with similar setups, where did you find the best placement for accurate detection without too many false triggers? Ceiling mount? Corners? Multiple sensors?

Would love to hear what’s worked (or not worked) for you.

  2. Corner Mounting: This setup is ideal for eliminating dead zones caused by sensor angle limitations. It provides a wide detection range suitable for detecting movements in a sitting or moving position. The corner-mounted approach also allows for more comprehensive zone detection automations.

In order to get the coverage I needed I mounted it up high (3/4) of the wall. this allowed me to have coverage in the breakfast nook, kitchen, living room, edge of the dining room and hallway. I could probably add a second one for better strengthening and coverage. But it’s covering a sizable space as is. Very commendable.
