Best Temperature Sensor for Ceiling Fan Automation

Hey everyone! I’m looking to set up a smart ceiling fan in my bedroom, and I need some advice on the best temperature sensor to use. The goal is to have the fan turn on automatically when the room reaches a certain temperature. At the moment, nothing in the room is smart, so I’ll be starting from scratch.

I’ve been looking at the Lutron Caseta system, but I’m not tied to it. Any smart switch would work as long as it integrates well with my existing setup. What I’m really concerned about is finding a reliable temperature sensor that doesn’t require a hub. Ideally, I’d like something simple, like a Wi-Fi-enabled thermometer that can communicate directly with my smart switch.

I’ve heard great things about the Wyze Cam V3, which includes a built-in temperature sensor. It’s affordable and integrates well with most smart home systems. Would this be a good solution? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with similar setups.

Here are a few things I’m considering:

  • Wyze Cam V3: Built-in temperature sensor, affordable, and easy to set up.
  • SmartThings Temperature Sensor: Works seamlessly with the SmartThings ecosystem.
  • Honeywell Home Temperature Sensor: Known for reliability and accuracy.

I’d also love to know if there are any other options that might be even better. The key for me is simplicity and ease of integration without needing additional hubs or complicated setup processes.

If anyone has successfully set up something similar, please share your setup and any tips you might have! I’m really excited to get this project going and would appreciate any guidance you can offer. Thanks in advance for your help!
