Dear all,
I am currently in the process of building a brand new house (tips for that will be requested in a separate post) and the idea is that my current will then be closed permantely and I will start from scratch again.
I have around 40 different Aqara devices, sensors, hubs, LED strips etc
A few questions:
- Is there any recommendations when shutting down your existing home permantely?
- What is the right process when removing devices from my current home?
- Should I first remove it from my home in Apple Home or Aqara? Then Factory reset?
- How to remove home in best way in Aqara and Apple home?
- is it possible to order new stickers for the sensors from Aqara? Or how do you guys do when you move sensors, LED strips etc?
- Some will be obsolete, what do do when selling devices? Anything to consider?
- Any other good tips when starting over?
Thanks
MĂĄns
Awesome question and there are tons of options all depending on each persons setup and how much work you want to put in to the process (moving sucks)
My personal preference is to leave everything in place in the old home and move into my new home with all new updated smart home hardware. Of course this is expensive and often not possible. Plus you won’t damage your old home while removing any old hardware. The new owner may actually like to use your old smart home hardware.
I’m not sure there is a right vs wrong? You could open the Aqara app and select your “Home” and delete it and do the same in the Apple Home app.
or you can open the Aqara app and delete each device one by one.
Aqara App
Open the Apple Home App and tap the 3 dots … (top right of screen) select Home settings-scroll down to the very bottom and choose “Remove Home”
I’m not sure, guessing probably not?
The value of used smart home devices is not always worth the time to try to sell (Headache) I often recommend donating to others who may want to get into smart home stuff or be interested in the hobby etc. Ahh? I suppose use your best judgement cameras can be expensive and it does depend on what items you are trying to sell. Some items can be re-sold and are worth the effort. Small items under $30 new I’m not so sure is worth your time to try to sell.
Try to look forward and leave behind old methods of doing things, after all your new home has different sized rooms and are all shaped different so thing will not be the same in your new home anyway. ENJOY! your new place. when it’s all complete it will be great!
