Better idea of the light switch

Since amber blink light can be seen while the light switch to be added, can the amber LED be lit up when switch is off as an indication for user to approach to the switch in the dark ?

If you use Zigbee mode Aqara switches, then you can reverse the light mode (it will be lit when OFF and disabled when ON)

Is this “reversal” of the lights not possible in Thread/Matter mode?

Hmm, too bad. Seems like I need to wait for a future H3 series to fully support Matter. Do you know chip the H2 devices use internally?

No, unfortunately I don’t know that. But if you want to expose the switch as Matter device, you can pair the H2 switch with an M3 or G5 Pro hub.

Those hubs can connect to a Matter ecosystem and will expose ALL devices (even Zigbee or older non-Matter Aqara devices) as Matter devices (except cameras).

I personally use an M3 hub and have everything configured as Zigbee but the M3 hub is connected as a Matter bridge to HomeKit and all my switches, lights and sensors are exposed as Matter devices (even the older H1 switches).

The Thread mode is only really useful if you want to connect the switch directly to other Matter over Thread ecosystem without the Aqara hub. But if you have an Aqara hub like the M3, just connect everything as Zigbee, and the M3 will “convert” the device to Matter for you automatically

Thanks, that’s an interesting option.

However, I want to connect directly to an OpenThread Border Router which is connected to my Home Assistant.

I don’t have any experience with that, sorry. The only way I can help is that I can suggest connecting the M3 hub using Matter to HomeAssistant and it will bridge all devices
