Black Friday Smart Home Shopping and Motion Sensor Setup Tips

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my Black Friday experience and get some advice on a motion sensor setup I’m working on. :tada:

This year, I decided to splurge on some smart home gadgets, but for the first time, it wasn’t all about Govee! I picked up a couple of other cool devices, but I’m curious to hear what everyone else got. Did anyone snag any exciting new gadgets this year? I’d love to hear about your finds!

Now, onto my project. I’ve been trying to set up a motion sensor for my mailbox to alert me when it’s opened. The idea is pretty straightforward, but I’m running into a bit of a snag. I want the Text-to-Speech (TTS) notification to wait for 5 minutes before triggering again. I’ve been fiddling with some logic using true/false values, but I’m not quite getting it right. Here’s what I’m thinking: if the sensor is triggered within the last 5 minutes, set a value to true, and then reset it to false after the delay. Any tips or tricks on how to make this work smoothly? I’d really appreciate some guidance!

On another note, I’ve been exploring the use of ESP32 boards for a Bluetooth proximity project. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m excited about the potential. I’ve managed to get the basics working, but I’m hitting some roadblocks with reliability. If anyone has experience with ESP32 or Bluetooth proxies, I’d love to hear about your setups and any challenges you’ve overcome.

Lastly, I wanted to thank everyone for the incredible support in this community. It’s amazing how much we can learn and achieve together. If anyone has any questions or needs help with their projects, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Let’s keep the smart home ideas flowing! :rocket:
