I’ve been using Blink cameras for over a year now, and I must say, they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home security setup. Initially, I was thrilled with their battery life—my outdoor camera would last close to two months on a single set of lithium batteries. It was incredibly convenient, especially since I don’t have to check the batteries often.
However, over the past four months, I’ve noticed a significant drop in battery life. What used to last weeks now barely makes it through a week. I’ve tried everything from using brand new lithium batteries to resetting the camera multiple times, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. It’s quite perplexing, and I can’t help but wonder if there’s a software glitch or if the camera’s battery consumption has increased over time.
While waiting for a response from Blink support, I’ve started experimenting with different battery brands and settings. Interestingly, I found that using a different brand of lithium batteries provided a slight improvement, though it’s still nowhere near the original performance. I’ve also adjusted the camera’s motion detection settings to reduce unnecessary recordings, which might help conserve battery life.
This experience has taught me the importance of monitoring battery life, especially with outdoor devices. It’s a good reminder to always keep spare batteries on hand and to stay updated with any firmware updates that might address such issues. I’m hopeful that Blink will provide a solution soon, but in the meantime, I’m doing my best to adapt and optimize my setup.
If anyone else has encountered similar issues or has tips to share, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other troubleshoot these challenges.
