Broadlink and Wyze Integration Tips for Home Assistant

Hey everyone, I’m excited to share my journey integrating Broadlink and Wyze devices into Home Assistant. I’ve been experimenting with these devices for a while now, and I thought it would be helpful to share some of my experiences and tips with the community.

First off, I’ve been using Broadlink for controlling my non-smart devices, like my Dyson heater. One thing I struggled with initially was getting the toggle switches to reset automatically after a few seconds. I remember in Homebridge, there was an ‘auto off’ feature that worked perfectly, but I wasn’t sure how to replicate that in Home Assistant. After some research and trial and error, I found a solution by using automation rules in Home Assistant to turn off the switch after a set time. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it gets the job done!

Another thing I wanted to share is my experience with Wyze cameras. I recently upgraded to the Wyze Cam V3, and I’m really impressed with the video quality and ease of setup. However, I did run into an issue where the camera would reboot continuously. After some digging, I realized it was a firmware issue. I managed to resolve it by updating the firmware through the Wyze app. If anyone else is experiencing similar problems, I highly recommend checking for firmware updates first.

I also wanted to mention the importance of proper configuration when integrating devices into Home Assistant. For example, when setting up Broadlink devices, ensuring the correct signal timing and multiple signal sends can make a big difference in reliability. I’ve found that using the MQTT integration alongside Broadlink has helped streamline my setup.

One more tip I’d like to share is about organizing your devices and automations. I’ve been using custom cards and lovelocks to create a more intuitive dashboard. It’s a great way to keep everything tidy and easily accessible. I’ve also started using templates for repetitive tasks, which has saved me a lot of time.

I’m really enjoying the flexibility and customization that Home Assistant offers, and I’m excited to continue exploring new devices and integrations. If anyone has any questions or tips about Broadlink, Wyze, or Home Assistant in general, feel free to reach out! Happy automating! :rocket:
