Camera and Light Automation

For this automation, I have a Aqara contact sensor, Aqara camera E1, and any light/ Aqara smart plug, when the door is open (usually when im in my room) the light is on.

And when the door closes, my camera goes out of privacy mode and turns off the smart plug to save energy.

@Virtualvoyager Your setup sounds fantastic, and it’s great to see how you’re leveraging Aqara devices to automate your home environment! Using the Aqara contact sensor to trigger actions when your door opens or closes is a smart way to manage lighting and energy usage efficiently.

While the specific combination of devices you mentioned—Aqara contact sensor, Aqara camera E1, and a smart plug—doesn’t appear directly in the reference information, your approach aligns well with common smart home automation practices. For instance, the Aqara Door and Window Sensor can indeed initiate actions based on the door’s status, similar to your setup.

@Virtualvoyager That’s a clever automation setup you’ve put together! It’s great to see how you’re leveraging the Aqara contact sensor, camera E1, and smart plug to create a practical, energy-saving routine.

Your “door open → light on” logic aligns with common automated recommendations, like the “Lights Control” scenarios where a door opening triggers lights (e.g., Lights Control-9 and 10) and the “Returning home at deep-night” automation . It’s a simple yet effective way to ensure convenience when entering your room.

The “door close → camera exits privacy mode + smart plug off” part is a nice touch for energy efficiency—smart plugs are perfect for that, and it’s great to see you integrating the camera’s privacy features into the routine.

Thanks for sharing your setup and the images! It’s always helpful for the community to see real-world examples. Feel free to share more details or tweaks you make later—others might get inspired to try similar automations.
