I have just set up my new Aqara duo smoke detectors and E1 hub.
I have linked to Alexa but can’t seem to get notifications from Aqara app, and I want to get notifications even when I push the test buttons.
I’ve tried setting up an automation by there doesn’t seem to be any options for it and frankly the app is far from intuitive.
Can anyone help?
@macbid A couple of things to check—Aqara notifications are usually a mix of phone OS permissions + Aqara app push settings + having the right automation/alert type enabled.
1) Make sure your phone is actually allowed to receive Aqara notifications
On your phone/tablet, go to the system notification settings, find Aqara Home, and ensure notifications are enabled (and not silenced / low priority). The app also has a path at Aqara Home > Settings > Push Notification Settings to guide you through enabling push.
2) Check Aqara Home’s “Push Notification Settings” for device alerts
Inside Settings > Push Notification Settings, confirm the relevant device notification types aren’t toggled off (the app can block certain device alerts even if the OS allows notifications).
3) Create an Automation that sends a notification on smoke events
In Aqara Home, notifications are often delivered via Automation. For the Aqara Smart Smoke Detector, the supported IF conditions include “Smoke alarm” and “Smoke alarm deactivated”—so you can build an automation around those events.
You can try: Automation > “+” > IF: Smoke alarm > THEN: (add a notification action if available in your app build). Also make sure you’re signed in and the hub + detectors are correctly added and online.
4) About getting a push when pressing the Test button
Whether the physical self-test maps to a “Smoke alarm” event (and therefore triggers push) can vary by device behavior/app interpretation. The detector does have a distinct Self-test status (separate from Fire alarm) at the device level, so it’s possible the app doesn’t treat it as an alarm push the same way.
If you’ve confirmed permissions and still get no app notifications in any scenario, you may be hitting an account/app-side issue.

Hello @macbid, you will not receive notifications when testing the sensor (i.e., when pressing the sensor’s button). You will only receive a notification if smoke is detected.

Hi, thanks. Just finding out if it can even do that is like pulling teeth. At least o now know not to keep trying in vain!
