Can’t get m3 to find m1s?

Recently got 2 m1s 2nd gen (with speaker) and can’t get my m3 to recognize it. The box says zigbee and also states “works with apple homekit. I don’t use homekit but i thought anything zigbee would work on an m3. Arggg. Please explain!

It’s because they are both hubs, the M1S gen 1 and 2 are separate hubs, they should come with a QR code either on them or in the manual to add them, they don’t connect because they are not child devices, they do not connect to the M3 as their hub since those devices are a standalone hub. And Zigbee is a mesh network, but can only have one zigbee coordinator, to simplify, basically a zigbee network can only have one hub in that network. A good example of a network thay does allow for multiple hubs is matter over thread, as thread allows for multiple hubs in a single network, for thread, these hubs are called border routers.

I got them with the intention of utilizing the siren and internal led as part of my “cat, keep off of the sofa” automation. So back they go. Guess ill have to go another direction. I think I’ll try an industrial vibration motor which I think is a better option and less noisy! Thanks for the clarification.
