I wonder if it’s possible and won’t damage the device to plug into power all the time, will it damage the battery?
Dear user, we do not recommend leaving the door lock continuously connected to power. Keeping a Li-ion battery at or near 100% for extended periods can accelerate battery ageing and, in rare cases, increase the risk of overheating. To help extend battery life and minimize potential safety risks, please charge only when needed and avoid keeping the lock plugged in at all times. For optimal battery health, we recommend maintaining the battery level between 20% and 80% whenever possible.
The suggested charging methods can be found in the User manual. Please feel free to check: Help Center
But plugging the USB cable on the lock (not to the battery directly) will charge the battery? I thought that to charge the battery the cable would need to be directly connected to the batteries usb-c port
Yes, the battery will be charged through the USB-C port on the inner panel.
There are 2 recommanded charging Methods:
Method One:
Connect a USB-C cable to the battery charging port located at the bottom of the inner lock body. We recommend using a power bank, which can be placed in a bag and hung on the door handle for convenient charging.
Method Two:
Remove the rechargeable Li-ion battery, then connect a USB-C cable directly to the port on the battery for charging.
Note: Once the battery is removed, the door lock will stop working. Please carry the physical key with you as a backup in case of emergencies.
Ok, now going a bit more technical, if I make sure my USB cable is only charging when the battery is low, then it would be fine right? Like putting an Aqara smart power plug on the end of the USB and turning it on/off based on battery level
