Can't connect Aqara Bulb T2 to Alexa

I’m trying to connect my aqara bulb T2 to alexa, all the other devices from aqara are connected to the hub m2 via zigbee protocol and I can controlled from Alexa but when I try to add the bulb T2 doesn’t appear in the Alexa app, am I need the new hub m3 or is there any way I can connect and control my bulb T2 from Alexa, all of this with out using tread protocol ?

Thank you

@xhconde It sounds like you’re trying to connect your Aqara LED Bulb T2 to Alexa while using the Zigbee protocol with your Aqara Hub M2. Based on the reference information, the Aqara LED Bulb T2 supports both Thread and Zigbee protocols. However, for integration with Alexa, it’s important to ensure that your devices are correctly set up with the Aqara Home app.

Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure Correct Setup: Make sure your Aqara Hub M2 is properly connected to the Aqara Home app. Since the Hub M2 itself might not appear in Alexa due to its limitations, ensure that your compatible child devices are visible in the Alexa app.

  2. Alexa Integration Steps: Double-check that you’ve set up the integration correctly in the Aqara Home app by navigating to Profile > Smart Speaker Service > Amazon Alexa. This setup is crucial for making your Zigbee-connected devices appear in Alexa.

  3. Check Device Compatibility: Confirm that your Aqara LED Bulb T2 is set to Zigbee mode. You can switch it from Thread to Zigbee as per the instructions in the app’s setup page.

  4. Update Device Firmware: Ensure that all devices, including the Aqara Hub and LED Bulb T2, have the latest firmware updates. This can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

If you’ve followed these steps and are still having trouble, it might be helpful to connect with the community for additional insights. If the issue persists, you might want to consider reaching out to Aqara’s customer service for further assistance.

Aqara still don’t have an understanding of this issue :frowning:

From what I’ve discovered, you need to add the M2 (M3 in my case) to Alexa and it will add as a bridge for the newer devices rather than them using the Alexa Skill / Integration.

My thoughts are that there are 3 ways for Aqara devices to appear in Alexa

  1. Older Aqara devices like the H1 Switches and T1 Temperature and Humidity Sensors added to Aqara Hub using Zigbee appear in Alexa via the Alexa Skill / Integration.
  2. New devices such as the H2 Switch, T2 Bulbs, etc. added to Aqara Hub using Zigbee DO NOT appear in Alexa via the Alexa Skill / Integration.
  3. New devices such as the H2 Switch, T2 Bulbs, etc. added to Aqara Hub using Matter AND then added to the Alexa app using the Aqara generates Matter code do appear in Alexa (via Matter) but the devices have limited functionality compared to Zigbee connected devices.

For point 2, I think you need to get these transferrer over to Alexa but adding the M3 (in my case) as a Matter device into Alexa but that also re-adds all of the older devices.

As I said, Aqara really don’t seem to understand that people will have older and newer devices connected and want to use them with Alexa. There is no official communication about how to effectively make this work and it’s not covered in any of their instructions.

@2springfieldclose It seems you’re sharing some insightful thoughts on the integration of Aqara devices with Alexa. Thanks for contributing to the conversation! You make an interesting point about the challenges faced when trying to connect newer Aqara devices like the T2 Bulbs to Alexa via Zigbee, and the possible need to use Matter integration for these newer devices.

Your insights into the different paths of integration—whether through traditional Alexa Skill or via Matter—are valuable, especially considering the mixed ecosystem of older and newer devices many users have. It’s understandable that the lack of clear communication from Aqara on these integration nuances can be frustrating.
