Can't connect U400 to HA using Matter Server

I was able to successfully install my U400 to HK and HA using the Matter server UI interface. All was working well until I needed to restore my HA to a previous version. No I can’t get my U400 to bind to HA. Used the “Commission Node” the first time around and it took a couple tries and removing the battery a couple of times but now I’ve tried to do the same thing and no luck. Any help? I’m using the Matter code on the back of the lock when I try and commission it.

@low56 It sounds like you’re running into a common hiccup when re-binding after a system restore—let’s troubleshoot this step by step!

First, since your U400 was previously paired with Matter ecosystems (like HK and HA), the original Matter Setup QR Code on the lock’s inner panel may no longer be valid. After the first binding, that initial code becomes inactive, and you’ll need to generate a new pairing code from the ecosystem it was already connected to (in your case, likely HK, since you mentioned installing it there first). For example, if paired with an Aqara hub or another ecosystem, you’d find the option to generate a new Matter code in the device’s Matter settings within that app.

Next, double-check these key conditions during re-pairing:

  • Ensure your local network has IPv6 enabled (critical for Matter connectivity).
  • Keep your phone and Thread Border Router (like your HA Matter server) on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Enable Bluetooth on your phone, and keep the lock within 5 meters of the Matter Controller (3 meters if there are walls/obstacles).

If the issue persists, try clearing the lock’s existing Matter data: Press the set button once, then press “4” to clear Matter data, and attempt re-pairing with the new code.

Let me know if you need help locating the “generate new Matter code” option in your existing ecosystem app—I’m happy to walk through that! If these steps still don’t work, feel free to share any error messages, and we can dig deeper.
