I have noticed that after setting up my m3 hub, that the zigbee channel automatically chosen, interferes with my WiFi. How can I change the zigbee channel? I can’t seem to find it but surely it is possible, right?
@moosetc You seem to be experiencing an issue with changing the Zigbee channel on your M3 hub due to WiFi interference. You can contact customer support for assistance. Contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, “Please click here” to create a ticket.
I think it is locked to your thread channel, and if you have an Apple setup, thread is locked to channel 25 for now. I just changed the 2.4 WiFi channel instead. Correct me, if I am wrong. Also, remember the zigbee hubs do not stack like thread routers, as each Zigbee hub makes it’s own, possibly interfering, own Zigbee network. Make sure to place hubs and routers as fa apart as possible too.
Thread is set to channel 14.
Kinda strange decision to lock the zigbee channel ![]()
Thanks for the information
I believe Zigbee devices “remember” the channel so changing the channel would cause the devices to just lose connection UNLESS Aqara develops a custom way to switch channels (changing the channel is not a standard Zigbee feature, it’s practically non-existent in any brand).
Currently most Zigbee devices (Aqara included) only change channel when you re-pair them. The channel is only chosen during initial hub setup. So you would need to factory reset the hub and all your Zigbee devices, and this GitHub thread suggests this behavior is not exclusive to Aqara, but a standard practise.
So unfortunately the only thing you can do is change the wifi channel, but I believe it should be relatively easy, because most router/AP brands allow you to change or even lock the selected channel. And channel switching is implemented in the WiFi standard.
If you tell me what’s the model of your router/Access Point then I can help you change the channel.
Support can change your ZigBee and thread channels for you, open a ticket.
If you factory reset it in future, you will have to ask them again to change your channel.
Beware that you will have to repair all your thread and ZigBee devices after changing channels.
@cezary806
I can change ZigBee and thread channel with cheap tuya matter hub, but I have to remove all ZigBee devices and repair them to make them work again on new channel.
Ok, that’s so cool that there even is an option to change it, but pairing all devices again can be annoying. And you’re right, there are brands where changing the channel is possible, so my reply was not 100% correct
And thank you for sharing the info from the support, I didn’t even know that.
