Charging Statistics Integration and Smart Device Control

Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent experiences with integrating charging statistics from my ABB wallbox into Home Assistant. This has been a fascinating journey, and I hope to inspire others who might be looking to do something similar!

My Goal: I wanted to track my charging statistics over time to better understand my energy usage patterns. My wallbox doesn’t have Wi-Fi, so I’ve been manually transferring data via Bluetooth as CSV or PDF files. It’s a bit of a hassle, but manageable since I only need to do it a few times a month.

The Process: I’ve been experimenting with how to import this data into Home Assistant. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’ve discovered some really useful tools and automations that make this process smoother. For instance, using simple scripts to parse the CSV files and update my energy dashboard has been a game-changer.

Challenges and Solutions: One thing I struggled with initially was avoiding accidental toggles on my Shelly 1PM device. I found that disabling the PIN protection wasn’t the right approach, as it caused other issues. Instead, I’ve been focusing on how to display only the necessary information on my dashboard, keeping it clean and user-friendly.

Future Plans: I’m really looking forward to exploring more automation options. It would be amazing to have this data update automatically, even if it’s just once a week. I’m also curious about how others have tackled similar projects and would love to hear your tips and tricks!

This project has not only helped me monitor my energy usage but has also deepened my understanding of Home Assistant’s capabilities. It’s a fantastic feeling to create something practical and see it work seamlessly in my daily life. Thanks for reading, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Cheers,
