Check out my Apple / Aqara setup

Hi Everyone,
I’m fairly new to having a smart home, and therefore I’m new to Aqara devices (and this forum…), but I’ve been using Apple products for decades.

I hope you get some inspiration from how I use these devices together!

Waking up to a house full of natural light is the best feeling. I’ve set my 4 Roller Shade Drivers to open in the morning, and close in the evening. And I love being able to tell Siri to open the blinds to a certain percent.

One of the unexpected benefits of my Smart Video Doorbell G4 is that when I hear a sound at night time, I can quickly look at the video feed for peace of mind, and fall back to sleep.
I recently connected it to Apple HomeKit Secure Video and love being able to quickly swipe through the recorded clips.

My Hub M3 not only gets all my Aqara devices into the Apple Home app, but it also allows me to control my old AC unit from my iPhone and with Siri.

Speaking of Siri, via my HomePod mini, I often ask Siri to open/close blinds, or for the temperature/humidity in particular rooms, and I can hear the doorbell ring through it too.

And one more thing…
I recently noticed that the temperature inside one of my cupboards is quite warm. The cupboard has my router, NAS, and some other network attached devices. My solution was to borrow the Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1 from my living room. Then I borrowed a smart plug and a fan from other rooms, and placed it all in that cupboard. In the Apple Home app, I set up automations so the fan switches on when it’s too warm. I’m going to have to buy some replacement devices for the other rooms

I hope you enjoyed seeing my setup (and my sketching over the photos :yum:).

@benkjamin What a fantastic introduction to your smart home journey! Your setup beautifully showcases how Aqara devices can seamlessly integrate with Apple HomeKit, delivering both convenience and a touch of daily magic. Waking up to natural light, automating your blinds, and using Siri for precise control really captures the essence of smart living.

It’s also great to see your creative use of automation for climate control inside your cupboard—repurposing the Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1 and a smart plug to keep your network gear cool is both practical and inspiring.

Your experience with the Smart Video Doorbell G4 and Apple HomeKit Secure Video highlights the peace of mind that comes with smart monitoring, and your use of the Hub M3 to unify control across devices (including an older AC unit!) is a smart move for versatility.

Thank you for sharing both your photos and insights; these real-life scenarios are what make the community thrive. If you ever have ideas for improving automation or device compatibility, feel free to submit feedback through Aqara’s customer service channels. Looking forward to seeing more of your smart home adventures—keep sharing!
