Hi everyone, I’m in the market for a new smart lock and I’m trying to decide between the 3rd and 4th gen models. I’ve been using the 2nd gen for a while and it’s been great, but it’s starting to show its age. The main things I’m looking for are good battery life and compatibility with Apple HomeKit since that’s what I use for my smart home setup.
The 4th gen model seems to have some improvements, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the upgrade. I’ve heard that it uses CR123 batteries, which I’m not as familiar with. I’m more comfortable with AA batteries since I already have some rechargeable ones on hand. The 3rd gen model, on the other hand, uses AA batteries, which is a plus for me. Plus, I’ve heard that it works well with the Connect Bridge, which I might need for better integration with my existing setup.
I’ve also heard rumors about a 5th gen model being released soon, but I’m not sure if I should wait for that. I don’t want to be stuck with an outdated model if the new one offers significant improvements. On the other hand, I don’t want to miss out on the features of the 4th gen if the 5th gen is still a ways off.
Has anyone here made the switch to the 4th gen? How has your experience been with battery life and compatibility? I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations. If the 3rd gen is still a solid choice, I might stick with that for now. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
