Christmas Light Setup and Automation Tips

:christmas_tree: Christmas Light Setup and Automation Tips :gift:

As the holiday season approaches, I’ve been diving into setting up my outdoor Christmas lights. I’ve been using Govee lights for a couple of years now, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my setup. Their brightness and color variety really make the house pop! I’m curious if anyone has recommendations for specific light packs or configurations that work well for large areas. I’ve got a lot of palm trees in my backyard, so I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully used Govee lights for accent lighting in similar setups! :star2:

On the automation front, I’ve been experimenting with integrating my lights with cameras and doorbells. It would be amazing if my doorbell could play a special tone when the camera detects a vehicle, especially unexpected visitors. I’m wondering if anyone has successfully set this up or has tips on how to get started. :headphones:

Another project I’ve been working on is simplifying my dashboard to make it more efficient. I love having all my devices and sensors in one place, but I’ve noticed it can get a bit slow when pulling in multiple data points. I’ve started using template sensors to streamline the information, but I’m still hitting some limits with text length. If anyone has tips on optimizing dashboards or alternative ways to display information, I’d love to hear them! :bar_chart:

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the use of simple automations for my lights. For example, turning them on when motion is detected or adjusting brightness based on the time of day. It’s been a great way to add some convenience without getting too complicated. I’d love to hear how others are using automations for their holiday setups! :hammer_and_wrench:

Merry Christmas and happy automating! :christmas_tree:
