Combining Hue Bulbs for Simplified Control

Hey everyone, I recently started exploring the world of smart lighting and have been experimenting with Philips Hue bulbs alongside my existing Insteon setup. While most of my Hue bulbs work seamlessly as individual devices, I’ve encountered a specific scenario that I’m eager to solve. In my pantry, I have two Hue bulbs that I’d like to control as a single entity. Currently, they appear as separate devices on my Classic GUI, labeled Pantry 1 and Pantry 2. However, I’d love to have them grouped under a single device named Pantry, which would allow me to turn both on or off with a single command. At the same time, I still want them to remain individually addressable for Alexa voice commands.

I’ve done some research and believe this is a common customization, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement it. I’ve heard that OpenHAB allows for grouping items, but I’m not confident about the exact steps. Would this involve modifying the items configuration or perhaps creating a new rule? I’d appreciate any guidance or best practices you might have for achieving this setup.

This project has been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to continue exploring the possibilities of smart home automation. Thanks in advance for your insights and suggestions!
