Combining locks to get a better solution (for the UK)

Here’s a thought! Many houses in the UK are old. Indeed, the UK has the oldest average stock in Europe. 20% were built before 1919. (https://www.statista.com/statistics/292252/age-of-housing-dwellings-in-england-uk-by-tenuree/?srsltid=AfmBOooP7S-dOwfrm3kYmzsWsiyUeSDwiDIbhbLwikViExuY1lP-8U3i).

This means that a large number of doors have Night Latch, or Edge, Locks. Yet a great deal of insurance companies want to see compliant with British Standards and would prefer to see multi-point.

My house had two locks on the front door when I bought the house. I covered the lower one to a Euro Cylinder, and then added a U200 when they came out via the kickstarter campaign.

I removed the night latch.

I don’t want to change the door as it is the original door to the house from when it was the village bank between the wars… on a Tuesday afternoon.

The U500 has got me thinking, because I don’t have multi-point, but I could almost simulate it.

If I change the U200 to a U200 Lite, and added a U500, I could unlock the U500 and use automation to unlock the U200 Lite as well, thus increasing my security.

thoughts?

Seems reasonable  I just wonder about the latency. I’m curious to see how fast said automations could run.

I wonder if in the future when more UWB locks are available - could a single phone approaching unlock two UWB locks at the same time…

Yes, the multi point option is definitely a reason! Difficult to make them work at the same time?!?

don’t think I can make them work at the same time, but a second or so of each other.

Hi, FYI, conditions are now available in the IF section for locks. This makes it much easier to create automations 2.0, and our U*00

`thanks. I was aware, thus the suggestion of using automation.
