Compatibility with heating thermometer

Hello, I have the Smart Radiator Thermometer S1. These have a 21 mm wrench size, but I need a 21.5 mm wrench size on my new radiator. What options do I have so I can continue using all my
thermometers?

Hi, what type of valve do you use, RA, RAV or RAVL?
There are adapters for sale from the valve manufacturer, I bought one for myself, I’ve been using it for over 4 years.
Please provide the brand of valve or a photo.

Hello, Image 1 = valve. Image 2 = Aqara where it should be mounted. Image 3 = old thermostat. Do you see the difference between Image 2 and Image 3? None of the adapters fit, I’ve tried. I need these notches from the old thermostat on the Aqara, then it would fit without any problems.

Hi @n699bcbyjc its difficult to guess what you have exactly and what adapter you need … but maybe this adapter is what are you looking for - check the datas!

I don’t think I need an adapter. The problem is that the inner diameter doesn’t fit over the wrench size, as the notches aren’t there (see the picture where both thermostats are visible). The question is, can it be converted by grinding off part of the thermostat, since the inner diameter is 0.5 mm too small?

Well, I think the right adapter should work- most valves are standard size, why should you have one that the standard doesn’t fit? A unique size makes not really sense

Hello, please specify whether 1 or 2 does not match your size?

Have you tried screwing this adapter onto your valve (on top of the hexagon)? Secure it and insert the sleeve into the stem. I think everything should work for you.

Image 2, the red circle corresponds to image 1, which corresponds to the wrench size. This means the thermostat is loose when opened. I have to try the adapter again, but I’ve tried all of them, and none fit.

Hi, maybe my idea is absurd. Try using a file to erase the corners of the hexagon (red bark), if you can file down six corners and gain 1 mm.

Look, that’s my problem. None of the adapters that came with it fit. I’m at a loss as to how to properly secure the thermostat.

Hello, in your case I see such a solution. Search the Internet for an angled adapter for the valve “Tado angled adapter M30x1.5”. Then TVR Aqaea will definitely fit. If it is not on M30, then some of the adapters.
The manufacturer of your valve is Itap S.p.A. (Italy) (this is my assumption), there are no branded adapters, so look for another manufacturer for the angled adapter.
The photo shows a sample that I found on the Internet.

Will this angle adapter solve my problem of preventing the thermostat from coming loose, or will it just change the position by 90 degrees? Can I glue something in or something to prevent it from coming loose?

Look, I did a test. I put this rubber ring between the thermostat and the heater. Now the thermostat is stuck. I think if I replace this ring with something sturdier, my problem should be solved quickly and inexpensively.

Judging by the video, you can’t fully screw the TVR Aqara. Maybe the angled adapter will sit deeper on the valve and hold better. The old TVR that you removed didn’t unscrew, right?
You can just buy an adapter and screw it in, if it doesn’t fit you can always return it to the online store.

This is a way out of the situation, but it is unreliable. You understand that TVR wants a reliable mount, when it starts working (the rod moves), it will definitely move it, or after a while :slightly_frowning_face:

OK, thanks for the help. Then I’ll have to find the right adapter or get something else dented… but the problem seems to be solved now, thank you very much.

I’m glad I helped you.
As life experience shows, there are no problems that cannot be solved.

Hello. After consulting support, there’s unfortunately no solution to my problem. Unfortunately, these thermostats are unusable for me unless I find a workaround to make them work. So to speak, I’ve wasted some money. ^^
