Confusion over guard mode interactions

Can anyone in simple terms explain guard alerts to me and how they affect the accessory?

For example I have a camera that has Person detection enabled with push notifications. I have a “Home” guard alert profile that toggles this off. However enabling the home profile, does not update the accessory settings. These still show the detection being enabled with push notification

Is there some hierarchy present where the guard alert setting superseded the accessory setting?

Is the guard-alert alert, different to the accessory alert?

Many thanks

@DougD It sounds like you’re trying to understand how the Aqara guard modes interact with your accessory settings, such as your camera with person detection. Let’s break it down:

  1. Guard Modes and Accessories: Aqara’s guard modes, like “Home,” “Away,” and “Night,” are designed to manage the security settings across your devices. Each mode is designed for specific scenarios, for example, “Home Mode” is suitable when someone is at home and focuses on outdoor monitoring (Reference: Aqara Alert System Concept–“Home,” “Away,” and “Night” Modes).

  2. Hierarchy and Control: When you enable a guard mode, it sets the overarching security rules for your home environment. However, these modes do not automatically alter the settings of individual accessories unless specifically configured to do so. This means that if your camera has person detection enabled, simply activating a “Home” guard profile won’t automatically toggle these settings unless it’s programmed within the alert system to do so (Reference: Aqara Alert System Concept–Security Camera).

  3. Guard Alert vs. Accessory Alert: Guard alerts are part of the broader system to manage your home’s security by triggering alarms or notifications based on preset conditions. Accessory alerts, on the other hand, are notifications specific to the device’s features, like motion detection or person detection on your camera (Reference: Aqara Alert System Concept–Trigger Event).

If your “Home” guard profile is not behaving as expected, you might need to check how the alert system is configured in your app. Adjust the settings to ensure the guard mode reflects the changes you want in your accessory settings.

I hope this helps clarify the interaction between guard modes and your device settings. Feel free to share more about your setup, and the community can help explore further solutions!

Security system alerts and device alerts are different, if you want to turn off the camera person push, you need to go to the camera’s plugin page and go to “Device Settings - Detection Setting” to turn it off.
