Control Your Homey Hub with Garmin Watch Widget - A Fantastic Integration!

Hey everyone, I just came across this amazing widget that allows me to control my Homey smart home hub directly from my Garmin watch! It’s such a game-changer for those of us who love seamless integration between our wearables and smart home systems. I wanted to share my experience and some insights in case others are interested in trying it out.

First off, the setup was surprisingly straightforward. All I had to do was download the widget from the Garmin Connect IQ store and follow the on-screen instructions to link it with my Homey account. The widget provides a wealth of information right from my wrist, including CPU and memory usage of my Homey hub, which is pretty neat for monitoring purposes.

One of the standout features is the ability to scroll through my favorite devices and flows. I can toggle switches, press buttons, and even start predefined flows without needing to pull out my phone. It’s incredibly convenient, especially when I’m on the go or my hands are busy. The widget also allows me to check notifications and update my user state, which adds another layer of functionality.

I must mention that there are some limitations, particularly regarding device compatibility. The widget requires Garmin devices with more than 64kB of widget memory, so older models might not work. Additionally, there’s an issue with iOS devices where the authentication process doesn’t work seamlessly. However, the developer has provided a workaround using a local API key for HomeyPro23 users, which I’ve found to be effective.

Despite these minor hiccups, the widget has completely transformed how I interact with my smart home. It’s the perfect blend of convenience and functionality, and I can’t recommend it enough to fellow Garmin and Homey enthusiasts. If you’re looking to enhance your smart home setup, this widget is definitely worth checking out!

Thanks to the developer for creating such a fantastic tool, and kudos to the Homey community for supporting innovative solutions like this. Happy tinkering everyone!
