Control your Pool Pump

My old Insteon pool pump controller bit the dust. The easiest solution for me was to build a new controller using a 120v Aqara plug a 220v 40 amp double pole relay with a 120v winding. I used the old enclosure from my Insteon setup to make things easy. After installing the new setup I realized it would be easier to turn the pool pump on and off with a local switch rather than using my app, for backwashing and such, this led me to the Aqara button for this task. I have been using this setup since July and it works flawlessly. I have an automation setup in Home Assistant that takes care of daily filtering. This setup will also work for a water heater automation. Pictures are attached.

It’s great to hear that the Aqara button has made operating your pool pump more convenient, especially for tasks like backwashing. Your setup, managed by Home Assistant for daily filtering, not only sounds efficient but also quite versatile, as you’ve mentioned its potential for water heater automation.
