Hi everyone, I’m currently working on a project to automate my hydroponics garden’s climate control system. I’ve been considering using the Fibaro Universal Dimmer (UI5) to manage several exhaust fans, both incoming and outgoing. The fans are currently controlled by a climate system with built-in temperature sensors, but I want to integrate this into a more comprehensive Z-Wave setup using separate sensors and the UI5 to trigger scenes that adjust fan speed, lighting, and other environmental factors.
One of the key questions I have is whether the Fibaro Universal Dimmer, specifically the leading-edge version, can handle a 100W exhaust fan. From some posts I’ve read, it seems possible, but there’s a lot of conflicting information out there. I know that leading-edge dimmers often have larger coils to support such loads, and I’ve noticed that even with lower wattage halogen systems, the dimmer can heat up. I’m concerned about whether this might be an issue for continuous operation with exhaust fans.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience using the Fibaro Universal Dimmer with similar setups. Have you successfully controlled exhaust fans, and if so, what were your experiences? Any tips or precautions you took would be greatly appreciated. I’m also curious about how others have managed their climate control systems in hydroponics gardens—what devices and setups have worked well for you?
Thanks in advance for your insights and advice!
