Creating a Reliable Home Security System with Homey

I’ve recently decided to upgrade my home security system by replacing my outdated Honeywell Galaxy alarm with a Homey-based setup. After researching and experimenting, I’m excited to share my progress and seek some advice from the community.

I’ve set up my Homey with a UPS for power backup and connected it to my router and Wi-Fi. For sensors, I’m using the Aeotec door/window sensors, which seem reliable with a battery life of about 3 years and support for the highest Z-Wave security protocol. They also integrate well with the Homey Aeotec app. However, I’m curious if anyone has experience with these sensors and can confirm if the battery status can be monitored within flows.

One challenge I’m facing is finding compatible glass-breaking sensors. I’ve come across some options online, but none seem to have a compatible Homey app yet. If anyone has recommendations or solutions for this, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Motion detection is another area I’m concerned about. My current system uses large, reliable detectors, but I’m testing the Fibaro and Aeotec sensors. The Aeotec TriSensor seems promising due to its advanced security features, though I understand the Homey app doesn’t currently support it. Has anyone successfully integrated similar sensors?

For notifications, I’m looking for a way to alert my security agency in case of an alarm. While the siren and push notifications work, I’m hoping to find a Homey-compatible device that can communicate directly with them.

Finally, I plan to install Netatmo cameras to monitor inside during an alarm. If anyone has tips or experiences with this setup, I’d love to hear them.

Overall, I’m optimistic about the potential of Homey for a secure, integrated system. I’m eager to learn from others’ experiences and ensure everything runs smoothly. Thanks in advance for your insights!
