Next, I wanted to add a cinematic touch by streaming a fireplace video to my TV. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 running Hass.io, and I found a fireplace video in my local folder. The challenge was figuring out how to send this video to my Chromecast. After some research, I discovered I could use the built-in media player integration in Home Assistant. It was a bit of tweaking, but now I can cast videos with ease!
To tie everything together, I created a simple automation. When I press a button on my phone, the lights dim to a soft glow, and the fireplace video starts playing. It’s like having a personal retreat right in my living room. The best part? I can control everything from my phone, making it incredibly convenient.
