I recently decided to automate the lighting in my home, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! My goal was to create a system where the lights would turn on when I enter a room and adjust their brightness based on the time of day. After some research, I stumbled upon the idea of using motion sensors and smart bulbs, which seemed like the perfect solution.
I started by setting up a motion sensor in my living room. The sensor detects movement and triggers the lights to turn on. Initially, I faced a few challenges, like the lights not turning off automatically after a period of inactivity. But after some tweaking, I figured out how to set a timer that turns off the lights after a few minutes of no movement.
One feature I really wanted was for the lights to dim during late hours. I found a great guide that explained how to adjust the brightness based on the time of day. Now, the lights come on at full brightness during the day and dim to a softer glow in the evening. It’s been a fantastic improvement, especially for late-night trips to the kitchen!
I also wanted to ensure that the system was user-friendly. I set up a simple interface where I can manually override the settings if needed. For example, if I’m reading and want the lights to stay on, I can easily extend the timer or adjust the brightness.
Overall, this project has been a huge success. It’s not only made my home more convenient but also added a touch of modernity. I’m grateful for the community support and resources that helped me along the way. If anyone has questions or needs advice, feel free to reach out!
