Hey everyone, I wanted to share an exciting project I’ve been working on with my new Tesla Model Y. As a longtime Home Assistant user, I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of integrating my car with my smart home setup. The browser in the Tesla is chromium-based, so it seemed like a great opportunity to display a custom Home Assistant dashboard while driving.
I’ve set up a dashboard that includes everything from my garage door status to my home’s energy consumption. It’s been a fantastic way to keep an eye on things while I’m on the go. I even added a few buttons to control my Spotify playlists using Spotcast—perfect for switching up the music during long drives.
One of the challenges I faced was getting the dashboard to refresh automatically. I ended up using the auto-reload-card to refresh every few minutes, which worked out really well. The best part is how seamless it all comes together. The dashboard runs smoothly over my navigation screen, and I don’t even need to use the navigation feature during town drives.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has tips for improving the setup. It’s been a fun project, and I’m excited to see how I can expand it further. Thanks to the amazing community for all the inspiration and support! ![]()
