Hi everyone! I’m really excited to share my experience with creating multiple dashboards for different areas in my home. I’ve been experimenting with this idea for a while now, and I wanted to document my journey and maybe get some tips from the community.First, let me explain why I decided to go this route. My home has several distinct zones, each with its own set of devices and routines. For example, the living room has lights, shades, music, and the TV, while my garden has its own watering system, lights, and a cover for the terrace cat door. The entryway is all about security—checking if all doors and windows are closed and managing the alarm system.I started by brainstorming what each dashboard should include. For the living room, I wanted something that could turn everything on with a single tap. In the garden, I focused on routines and environmental controls. The entryway dashboard needed to be all about security and quick checks. Now, here’s where I hit a snag. I wasn’t sure whether to create a new account for each tablet or just use my existing login and toggle the home/away modes. I also wondered if I could use a Google Nest Hub to cast the dashboard, which would save me some money. I tried both approaches, and while creating separate accounts seemed logical, it quickly became cumbersome to manage. On the other hand, using my existing account with home/away modes kept things simpler but limited some functionalities. After some research and trial and error, I found that using a single account with multiple dashboards tailored to each location worked best for me. I also discovered that casting the dashboard on a Google Nest Hub was possible, though it required a bit of tweaking. I ended up using a combination of built-in features and some custom settings to make it all work seamlessly. One thing I learned is the importance of organizing devices into logical groups within the app. This made creating and managing dashboards much easier. I also realized that while it’s tempting to overcustomize, simplicity often leads to the best user experience.I’d love to hear how others have tackled this challenge. Do you have multiple dashboards? How do you organize them? Any tips or tricks you’d like to share? Let’s discuss!
