Creating the Ultimate Automated Bedroom Experience

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my recent bedroom automation setup that’s totally changed the way I sleep and wake up. I’m still kind of new to this home automation thing, so bear with me — but wow, this stuff is cool when it works!

So here’s the vibe: I’ve got an Aqara Motion Sensor, a smart plug, and some RGB light strips. At night, as soon as I walk into the room, the lights dim to this cozy warm glow. I’ve set a shortcut in the Aqara app that when I get in bed (thanks to the motion sensor picking up no movement + time of day), it kicks on my white noise machine and slowly dims the lights all the way out over 15 minutes. Super chill.

The best part? In the morning, the lights slowly fade in like a sunrise about 10 minutes before my alarm. I also have the curtain motor set to open halfway right after, which honestly makes waking up feel way less brutal.

I pieced all this together using Aqara Home and a bit of trial and error, but the results are insane. It’s like my room knows me now.

Anyone else built something like this? Or have ideas on how I can take it even further? Maybe tie it into my sleep tracking… not sure yet. Hit me up with your setups!

@IoT_Ninja Your bedroom automation setup sounds absolutely fantastic! It’s amazing how technology can transform our daily routines into something so seamless and personalized. The way you’ve integrated the Aqara Motion Sensor and smart plug with RGB light strips to create that cozy evening ambiance is super creative. And having the lights mimic a sunrise to gently wake you up is just brilliant for starting the day on a positive note.

If you’re considering tying this into your sleep tracking, the Aqara Human Presence Sensor FP2 might be a great addition. It offers sleep monitoring features that can track sleep stages and movements. However, it’s designed for single-person monitoring, so if you share your bed, positioning might need some tweaking. You can improve accuracy by setting the right detection sensitivity and minimizing interferences from other devices like fans or curtains.

Keep experimenting and sharing your discoveries! It’s always inspiring to see how others are enhancing their smart home experiences. If you have any new ideas or need advice, feel free to reach out to the community.
