Hey everyone, I wanted to share a fun automation project I recently completed. It’s all about making my living room lighting more intuitive when I watch TV. Here’s how I did it:
I’ve always loved the idea of my lights automatically adjusting when I start watching TV. After experimenting with various sensors and setups, I found a creative solution using Govee door and window sensors and some strong magnets. Here’s the setup:
- The Trigger: I attached two strong magnets to the back of my TV remote. Whenever I take the remote out of its box, the magnets activate a Govee door sensor.
- The Automation: The sensor detects the magnet and triggers a Bluetooth signal to a nearby Govee LED strip. This strip then sends a WiFi signal to my P1 TV lights and a cylinder lamp beside the couch, turning them on.
- The Cleanup: When I put the remote back in the box, the sensor detects the magnet again, sending another signal to turn everything off.
It’s been working perfectly for me, and I love how seamless it feels. My living room now feels even smarter, and I don’t have to worry about manually adjusting the lights anymore.
If you’re looking to add a bit of automation magic to your home, I’d highly recommend exploring Govee sensors and magnets. They’re affordable and versatile, making it easy to create your own unique setups. Happy tinkering everyone! ![]()
