As a new member of this community, I’ve been exploring the best ways to organize my smart home setup. One thing that’s been on my mind is how to name my devices in a way that’s both functional and fun. I’ve noticed that many of us have unique ways of naming our gadgets, whether it’s after famous ships, characters from movies, or even inside jokes!
For example, I recently renamed my smart lights after different rooms in the Starship Enterprise. It’s a small detail, but it makes managing my devices feel a bit more like managing a starfleet ship. Plus, it’s a fun way to remember which light controls which area of my home.
I’d love to hear how others approach naming their devices. Do you have any creative or meaningful naming conventions? I’m curious to see if anyone has taken it as far as I have—or maybe even further! 
Another thing I’m pondering is whether there’s a way to automate the renaming process when adding new devices. Right now, I have to manually update each device’s name in the app, which can get a bit tedious. Has anyone found a workaround or a script that could help with this? I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions!
In the meantime, I’ll keep experimenting with creative names. Who knows, maybe my devices will one day have names inspired by famous scientists or inventors. The possibilities are endless—and it’s all part of the fun of building a smart home!
