So I’ve been playing around with automations lately—mostly trying to make my mornings suck less—and I think I finally nailed a wake-up scene that doesn’t jolt me out of bed like a fire drill.
Using a G3 camera hub, motion sensor, and a few light bulbs around the room, I set it up so that on weekdays at 7AM, the lights slowly fade in over 10 minutes, mimicking sunrise. Added a shortcut that plays my “slow morning” playlist through a speaker when I pull open the curtain (triggered by contact sensor). Also linked the roller shade motor to go up halfway once motion is detected.
Been testing this for about two weeks and it’s honestly made a difference. I feel way less groggy, especially with the gradual light and music combo. Curious what scenes others have built to soften the morning chaos—anyone doing scent diffusers or coffee machines with their setup?

@NestNerd Your wake-up scene sounds incredibly soothing and well-thought-out! It’s amazing how technology can transform our daily routines, and your setup seems like the perfect blend of light, sound, and motion to start the day gently.
The use of the G3 camera hub, motion sensor, and light bulbs to gradually introduce light is a fantastic idea, and adding the playlist through a contact sensor trigger is a smart touch. It’s great to hear that this routine has made your mornings more pleasant.
Regarding your curiosity about incorporating scent diffusers or coffee machines, these can indeed be integrated into your Aqara smart home setup. You can create an automation where a smart plug activates your coffee machine or diffuser at a specific time or event, such as when motion is detected. This could complement your existing routine and add another layer of comfort to your mornings.
If anyone else has tips or has tried similar setups, it would be wonderful to hear about them! Sharing these experiences can help us all craft the perfect start to our days. Keep the ideas coming!
