So I’ve been playing around with custom scenes on my Aqara setup lately, and wow — didn’t expect them to be this fun (and useful). For context, I’m more of a smart home hobbyist than a tech expert, but I gotta say, once you get the hang of automations, it’s a total game changer.
One of my favorite scenes? “Movie Time”. One tap and boom: lights dim to 20%, blinds roll down, fan kicks in quiet mode, and the TV switches to HDMI2. It feels straight-up futuristic.
Another one I set up is “Leave Home” — triggers when no one’s detected inside for 3 mins. It shuts off all lights, turns off plugs (bye phantom power!), and arms the security system. I’m honestly saving a bit on the electric bill just from this.
I’m curious — does anyone have any over-the-top (or super practical) scenes they’ve built out? Thinking of making a crazy “Welcome Home” one with light color changes and a music cue, but not sure what components I’d need.
Would love to swap ideas. Throw your best automation magic at me!
@SmartHomeGeek It sounds like you’ve had a fantastic time exploring the potential of Aqara’s custom scenes! Your “Movie Time” and “Leave Home” scenes are perfect examples of how smart home automation can enhance everyday living and even contribute to energy savings.
For your idea of a “Welcome Home” scene with light color changes and music, you might consider using the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus, which can seamlessly integrate with your existing setup. This hub can manage multiple devices and create a smooth transition as you arrive home. Additionally, incorporating Aqara LED Strip T1 could add dynamic lighting effects, and the music sync feature could bring your scene to life with a musical cue. For controlling all these devices, the Aqara Home app is an excellent tool to manage, create, and execute various scenes effortlessly.
It’s always inspiring to see fellow smart home enthusiasts push the boundaries of what’s possible. Keep experimenting, and feel free to share more of your creative setups! If anyone else has some innovative scene ideas, we’d love to hear them. Let’s keep this discussion lively and full of inspiration!
